Renault announced on Friday that they have started criminal proceedings against former driver Nelson Piquet and his father, the three-time world champion of the same name, relating to allegations that Piquet deliberately crashed in last year's Singapore Grand Prix.

Michael Schumacher has agreed to extend his contract as a consultant with Ferrari for a further three years. After retiring from Formula One racing in 2006, Schumacher has undertaken the advisory role at the Italian team, with whom he won five of his seven drivers’ titles.
